Technology Services Management – Professional Development for Service Leaders

Bill Rose, Founder & Executive Director EmeritusThe Wharton Technology Services Management Program is the result of bringing the best and the brightest together to deliver exceptional curriculum that is tailor-made for the up-and-coming or accomplished service leader.

The one thing that all service professionals need is more “business training.” Running services as a business has become the basis of everything that our members do, yet there is little training out there for assistance. The transition from technical to business skills has not been a smooth one for our members. Most of the top level executives in services today started on the front lines and have developed strong technical skills along the way. Today, managing a service operation is less about the technical side and much more about running a business.

The partnership with Wharton has allowed the association to offer a combination of fundamental business topics coupled with specific, real-world, service skills training. We have invested hundreds of hours into supporting the development of the curriculum so that each course module is service-business focused. The outcome of participation in the program is executive level immersion that provides the framework for driving change throughout the business. With topics that focus on a more strategic approach to management, the course gives our members something that they have never had before—executive service management training.

This December 8 -11, we are holding our sixth Wharton session in San Francisco. To date we have successfully graduated over 250 of the best and brightest in the services industry. Class sizes are limited to 50 participants to ensure the highest levels of interaction with the Wharton faculty and fellow classmates.
