Circuit City Joins SSPA Consumer Electronics Group

Leading Retailer of Brand-Name Consumer Electronics Joins Industry-Leading Service & Support Community to Better Service Customers

SAN DIEGO, June 20, 2006 –The Service & Support Professionals Association (SSPA), the largest and most influential association for technology services and support professionals, today announced that Circuit City Stores, Inc. (NYSE: CC), has joined the SSPA as a core member of its Consumer Electronics (CE) group.

“Much like the technology industry itself, the consumer electronics segment is moving away from a pure product focus towards a services orientation,” said Bill Rose, SSPA founder and executive director.

“CE retailers face increasing challenges from complex technologies, interdependency between products, and the varying levels of technology sophistication in their customers. This, coupled with the explosion of new products and services available to consumers, poses new challenges and opportunities for the retailers,” Rose added.

Along with Sony, Motorola, Nokia, HP Consumer and other top-tier CE organizations, a core team of industry leaders have joined forces under the SSPA umbrella and is working together to identify specific business issues and to establish best practices and leading edge approaches to the CE space.

" Circuit City puts the customer at the heart of everything we do. Our goal is to provide our customers with services that solve their unmet needs and provide true solutions. Joining SSPA reflects our dedication to developing and implementing best practices for improving the quality of our customer experience," said Marc Sieger, senior vice president and general merchandise manager of services at Circuit City.
