Identify Software Announces APPSIGHT 5.0

First to Provide End-to-End Application Support Solution for .NET and Windows DNA

RALEIGH, N.C., May 25, 2004 – Identify® Software, the leader in application support software, today announced the availability of AppSight™ 5.0, the first solution to provide end-to-end application support for Microsoft .NET and Windows DNA environments.

AppSight 5.0 is an enterprise application support solution designed to optimize the problem resolution process throughout the entire application lifecycle—from development, through deployment, and into production. The new functionality of AppSight 5.0 broadens and deepens the functionality of the leading platform for application support. AppSight 5.0 provides unparalleled visibility into .NET applications, including the supporting infrastructure components and their interdependencies, with specific support for .NET Web services, Remoting, ADO.NET, ASP.NET, and more.

Resolving application problems in a heterogeneous environment calls for technology that captures application information at all application levels, on a variety of client and server platforms, in both .NET and Windows environments.

With AppSight 5.0, IT professionals who are developing, managing, and supporting .NET applications are able to play back recordings of application problems, rather than attempt to recreate them in a lab, thereby eliminating up to 80 percent of the cycle time usually consumed by root cause analysis.

AppSight 5.0 provides a broad and deep platform for enterprise application support with focus on four key dimensions:

  • Complete Support Across all Microsoft Architectures with features such as: server and client-side views, capture of component execution down to line of code, as well as user experience, client-side application execution, and configuration for both .NET and Windows DNA code.

  • Comprehensive Root Cause Pinpointing for all Types of Problems, including: performance, functional, configuration, and user errors.

  • Complete Application Lifecycle Coverage: Production environments as well as Development, QA & Testing, and Staging.

  • Complete Support Process Integration: unique views into problem information for Application Development, IT Operations, and Help Desk teams; ability to encapsulate and attach ancillary information to the Black Box log file, and the ability to attach the Black Box log file as documentary information to the trouble ticket of a service management system.

AppSight 5.0 also introduces patent-pending technology that enables application problem capture in production, down to the single line of code, by continuously adjusting the recording level in run-time to ensure minimal (or fixed) overhead costs.
