| SSPA Committees, Round Two
by Bill Rose, SSPA Founder/Executive Director
At our SSPA Conference @ San Diego, we set an ambitious goal: to deliver industry standards and best practice business processes for offshore outsourcing, support efficiency, and support industry standards to you, our members. To achieve that goal, we set up working committees to research, develop, and define processes and industry terms.
With the initial round of work nearly complete for SSPA committees on Offshore Outsourcing, Support Efficiency, and Support Industry Standards, it’s time to reconvene, look to the future, and add a bit of new blood. We’ll do just that at our upcoming SSPA Conference @ Savannah. The meeting is scheduled for Monday, October 4th at 9:00 a.m., before the official start of the conference, in Ballroom B of the Westin Savannah Harbor Resort. At the conference, we’ll also deliver the first of what we hope is many white papers developed by our committees.
If you’re interested in participating in defining support industry best practice business processes and standard terms, and you’re coming to Savannah, please take the time to come to the meeting and introduce yourself. By participating in the SSPA committee process, you can help provide the support community with important information that can’t be found anywhere else. You’ll also learn from some of the industry’s best support managers and organizations.
To participate in a committee, you must be an SSPA member and be willing to share your knowledge and experiences. You must also be willing to dedicate time to discovering industry best practices in our designated subject areas. We expect a two to four hour commitment each week. The result of your efforts will be a white paper delivered online during our SSPA Conference @ San Diego, March 20-23, 2005.
You don’t have to attend the conference to participate. You can complete our registration forms online for the existing committees or send an email to our Editor, David Kodama at dkodama@thesspa.com to register. You can also call 858-674-5491. What you do need is a passion for the subject area, a willingness to openly share your knowledge and ideas, and be willing to devote your time and energy to complete the committee’s goals.
What you get is a crash course in the subject area – best practices that you can implement immediately within your support organization – and several new contacts to develop your peer network. You’ll also have the satisfaction of giving something substantial back to the industry – and recognition for doing so.
I hope you’re coming to Savannah and will find the time to come by our meeting. Even if you don’t want to participate, you should come to let us know what subject areas we should focus on so we can provide you with the most value for your membership. You can also send an email to me, bill.rose@thesspa.com, to let me know what your most pressing issues are and I’ll make sure the appropriate committee gets the message.
Thanks and we’ll see you in Savannah.
Sincerely,

Bill Rose
