Creating Opportunities
by Bill Rose, SSPA Founder/Executive Director

Once in a while, I try to step back from work and other daily responsibilities to make sure I give fair time to other important things in my life. One of those things is supporting Room to Read and its founder John Wood. Room to Read is an organization dedicated to providing schools, libraries, and books to underprivileged children in Nepal, India, Cambodia, and Viet Nam. It’s also the official philanthropy of the SSPA.

Room to Read works with the communities it serves to develop a learning environment and the opportunity for the community to improve the lives for their children. The communities are required to buy in to the effort by contributing money, land, labor, and materials to the construction of buildings and development of the schools.

Bring your checkbooks to Savannah
I believe so strongly in its cause that I’ve invited John to attend the SSPA Conference @ Savannah and offer attendees a brief overview of the organization and its work at our STAR Awards dinner. I encourage you to open your hearts and checkbooks by contributing to this worthwhile effort.
At our 2004 Conference @ San Diego, together we were able to contribute more than $30,000 and we’d like to do even better next week in Savannah.

If you aren’t coming to Savannah, please go to our website to see a slide presentation and listen to John explain the mission of his organization and how you can make a difference.
If you want to contribute to this valuable cause now, you can use Room to Read’s secure online credit card form. Please add “Attn: SSPA Education Fund” in the special instructions.
To send the organization a check, send it to:

Room to Read
Attn: SSPA Education Fund
The Presidio
P.O. Box 29127
San Francisco, CA 94129

Doing this will make it possible for us to track the donations and report progress back to you.

Sincerely,

Bill Rose
SSPA Founder/Executive Director
