Three years ago, the SSPA took on a very important cause. We recognized that our industry is rapidly globalizing – both in terms of the markets and customers we serve, where we base our operations, and the workforce we employ. 

We believe that corporations have a responsibility to give back to the community, encourage people to lead balanced lives, embrace diversity, and educate those less fortunate—which will in turn lead to greater prosperity for all.  

SSPA can make a significant difference by championing specific issues, communicating those issues to our industry, and working with others to understand and confront them head on.

SSPA has chosen to sponsor the dynamic, results-oriented organization Room to Read. Room to Read seeks to intervene early in the lives of children and help provide them with an education and the lifelong gift of literacy. In just about three years, the SSPA has helped to raise over $100,000 and contributed to the development of the following:

1. 10 new schools in Nepal serving over 5,000 children
2. 428 years of scholarships for girls from poor families
3. 53 bi-lingual school libraries serving 20,000 children
4. Over 100,000 local language children’s books
